Office of the Secretary of State
Keeps the official records of the State, hears appeals and complaints about the State, and answers information requests.
The Secretary of State, Evelyn Hartley, is responsible for the State's official records. The Office keeps the register of businesses, the public register of regulations and the Gazette, and countersigns the Governor's regulations.
Under the Emergency Services Standards the Secretary of State decides appeals against findings, orders and steps of the Office of Emergency Services (ESR 5.1), and investigates complaints about the conduct of State officials independently of that Office (ESR 5.2).
